Heck, now I'm thinking about getting eaten.
So if DHCP servers have their clients' hostnames, why don't routers do a local DNS that isn't multicast?

Privacy tip: The name of your iPhone is given to the DHCP server when you join WiFi. So try not to have your full name in it, like "John Doe's iPhone" as that information can be used to track you.
Think up a clever name for your iPhone that's not connected to you, and use that.
